History

How it all began

01

History

Once destined to become a golf course, the site was declared a national park in 2007. Restoration work began soon after. Since then we have removed waste, restored habitats and created green open spaces for the public to enjoy, building a like-minded community along the way. Now the park is found within a Special Area of Conservation of International Importance under the Natura 2000 network. Free to enter on foot and open all year round, it is perfect for walking from October to April and for sunset walks during the hotter months.

02

Mission Statement

Majjistral National Heritage Park is dedicated to maintaining and restoring Malta's natural habitats and helping the public understand what makes them worth protecting. In doing so, it creates a space where the community can connect with nature and each other.

03

Vision

Majjistral Park exists to protect its natural, cultural and rural heritage while creating a welcoming community for everyone who visits.
