Last Sunday we carried out a huge clean up of a Natura 2000 area below the cliffs of Irdum id-Delli in Majjistral Park.
This beautiful natural landscape was used as an illegal dumping ground for years – someone would drive in and dump it off the side of the cliff which made it incredibly difficult to clean up due to access issues.
Luckily a number of people came to the rescue and we worked as a team to clear this area once and for all!
Together (in very challenging weather) we managed to remove approximately 800kg of waste which included:
TV monitors
Playstations
Electric wires
CDs & DVDs
Baby Car Seats & Pushchairs
Tyres & pushchair wheels
Remote Controls
Air conditioners
Toy bikes & Cars
Soft toys
Clothes
Oil
Rusted metal
Glass
A massive appreciative THANK YOU goes to St. John Rescue Corps, our dedicated volunteers Cami Appelgren, Suzanne Maas, Christian Debono, Viv Malt, Andrew Hanna, Ais Cunningham, Gilbert Vancell, Tamsin Caruana and
We could not have achieved this without you all!
We are sure that nature is also breathing a sigh of relief!
Note: When visiting the Park please report anyone you see carrying out illegal dumping to the Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) by calling 119 and let Majjistal Park staff know by sending us a message via our Facebook page.
